WiFi FTP server sharing app | Share without USB cable | App review and Tutorial

WiFi sharing apps

Sharing is caring! Hope from someone you have heard this line. So, sharing is the best thing not only in terms of food and money also digitally. Long back we use Bluetooth or USB cables to share things between two devices. But after the expansion of WiFi usage, the FTP Server sharing method is used nowadays. Two devices connected to the same network can transfer files between them. This method is easy, a fast one and no need for any hardware.

The app named "WiFi FTP server" is one of the widely used applications. Some apps work only on connecting the two devices to the same network. For example, Phone and laptop connected to a WiFi router or two phones connected to a router. But this app works also in conditions like your laptop connected to your mobile hotspot. It is like an invisible way is paved between the PC and mobile. Let's see about the app in detail.

The interface of WiFi FTP Server

It has a very simple user interface. Only two screens are present. One is the main homepage and another is the settings tab. On the main page "Start" option is given. After, starting the server the details of the server like URL, Server username and password (if assigned) and Root folder are present.

In the settings tab, security features and theme selection are given. I discussed the options available in the settings below.

Port Number - Number present at the end of the server URL. You can change the port number anytime. It is used to differentiate the servers.

Anonymous Access - If enabled, directly access the folders. If not enabled, a person should enter a username and password then only the folders will become available.

User ID and password - By default, "android" is assigned as both ID and password. You can change them anytime and it is used as credentials if anonymous access is disabled.

Use FTPS and SSL - These two options are given to add an extra security layer. If you're using this sharing method in a public place or internet centre then you should think about enabling these options.

Root Folder - Normally every mobile (android) has internal memory and an external SD card. This option is used to choose from which memory (or folder) you want to share.

Read Only - If it is enabled, only files are viewed but cannot be shared. (copied).

Theme - WiFi FTP Server app has both light theme and dark theme.

Display password - As I said, some of the details are shown on the main page. The details contain the password of your server. If enabled the password is shown in the tab and if the disabled password is not shown.

How to transfer files using an FTP server?

The first step is either to connect the devices to the same network (WiFi) or connect one device to another device hotspot (Phone to PC or vice versa).

Now, go to the file manager on your PC (Windows Explorer in Windows OS). In the search bar enter the server URL and press enter. Boom! Folders in the mobile/another PC can be seen there. An example is provided for your reference.

Note: If you disable the anonymous access in settings then on connecting it asks for a username ID and password.

**SORRY FOR THE NOISE. Please MUTE and WATCH**
