Socratic | How to use Socratic homework app? | App Review

Socratic by Google - An teaching app decreases the time of thinking and homework. Like any other app, it also has some pros and cons. This doubt clearing app may be useful in solving very complex problems but there is a chance of using it for each and every problem or homework they have. It results in not learning things in a good way. Also, they don't remember anything after some time.

How it looks?

As the app is created for students up to 12th grade, its design also says the same. Children loving color and easy-to-use options are given.

On opening the app, the answer finding tool is shown. Camera, Keyboard and Microphone are the three methods.

Swipe up on the home screen to see the subject category. Basics of every subject are provided with a good and simple explanations.

On the top-right corner, the menu is given (three dashes). When clicking it, account settings, how to search tutorial, and feedback sections become available.

How to use Socratic app?

At first, Sign in with a Google account. Better use your personal account. As already mentioned, at the bottom use can see the "Photo/Camera" searching method, "Voice" input Search and convention type method.

1. Photo search method

Capture the book page or paper having the problem/question clearly. After capturing, it asks to adjust the BOX to question. Adjust it and click "GO". Searching... Boom, your answer will be there. Some related web results, images, and videos walkthrough also will be there.

2. Audio and Type search method

As all you know how to search using these options, I don't need to explain. The result produced by searching these methods is looking the same as the above one.

Pros

  • Easy to use. Designed in a way so that a child also makes use of it.
  • Good user interface.
  • Included basics of major subjects.
  • The result page has a very good structure. It gives, all the content available on the internet about your search.

Cons

  • Some difficult and complex problems may not be available in the correct way.
  • Students may lose the ability to think critically and logically.
  • Students may become lazy.
